Article By: priest19

In an electrifying showdown at McGuirk Alumni Stadium, Arizona State University (ASU) football showcased their prowess, defeating the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Minutemen with a final score of 30-17. The victory not only highlighted ASU's offensive capabilities but also emphasized their defensive strength, marking a significant moment in their season.

The game started out slow in the first quarter with each team feeling the other out. UMas would end the first quarter with a 3-0 lead. ASU was looking for answers on offense and found them with the running game. In the 2nd quarter the game got more exciting. ASU would drive down and have to settle for a field goal to tie the game at 3. The Sun Devils would then score to take a 10-3 lead, but the Minutemen answered right back to tie it at 10 with 28 seconds left in the second quarter. With all their timeouts, ASU then got the ball into field goal range to take a 13-10 lead going into the half.

The second half the defense stepped up and picked off the UMass QB 3 times to help setup good field position and also turning one of those into a defensive TD. The Sun Devils tried to control the ball and clock in the second half without making any mistakes which has been the downfall in the past. After field goal and touchdown, the defense would stand strong for a 30-17 win.

The victory over UMass was a testament to Arizona State's preparation and determination. With this win, the Sun Devils continue to build momentum as they look ahead to the remainder of the season.
