2078 Season Thread... 2 Rings for the Wings
Re: 2078 Season Thread... 2 Rings for the Wings
Damn boys, I can't keep up with all the homework. I wanna put my 2c in too cause I gotta feel special.
I was there during "the run". I like Corey by the way, quite a bit, just to preface. I personally felt like Corey might be cheating. However, I could never prove it. Once I did do digging I did see the bits and pieces that contributed to "the run".
1) There were some fucking terrible owners back then, like actual idiots and Corey raped em all. New, old, AL, NL, he raped em. Almost every trade he "won". And that was instant reaction to the trades, not a year or 2 after when guys had developed. He even got me once so I can't take myself out of the equation.
2) He had one of, if not the best scout in the game (maybe this was part of the cheat as he had the guy when I joined).
3) He had a metric fuck ton of money cause he always made the playoffs and his dudes were super popular.
4) He was commish at the time which means he was in the file the most and prone to be checking out everyone's team more than others would. Same reason Billy is good as commish too. You just know the players better when you are.
That being said, 2 and 3 could have just been a natural by-product of a cheating start.
Is it statistically impossible for all those guys to blow up like that at the same time? No.
Is it statistically IMPROBABLE for all those guys to blow up like that at the same time? Ya.
Is it statistically probable that Corey cheated? Ya.
I personally think he got omega fucking lucky at the start and was a good enough owner to parlay that into the team he had. That lucky start can easily be construed as cheating for sure and that's for everyone to determine. I also thought the Boston draft was unnecessary at the time because anyone paying attention could see (and Corey even admitted) that he was about to have major money issues. I think he only progressed what was naturally gonna happen by 3-5 seasons anyway.
That's my take on it. Right or wrong I don't care at this point. If Corey didn't cheat nothing changes. If he did (and even admitted it) I can finally stop having nightmares and stop taking my meds because I lost for a few months in OOTP.......OOOOR I don't care because Corey is a good owner. He cares about his team. He's active. He's not a nazi in trades. And he's not in a position to repeat the cheat (even if he did). There are still guys in this league who haven't responded to a trade request from 3 seasons ago on Slack. I'll take a former cheater who can't cheat now but is a good owner etc over those fossils who refuse to use Slack any day of the week (IF he even cheated).
OTHER NOTES
-----------------
The personal insults serve zero purpose except to fill pages....so I guess at least Billy will be happy.
The old boys club shit is so dumb and antithetical to what an online league is about. It's maddening sometimes, and I still get that treatment sometimes even though I've been here 35 fucking seasons. If you want an old boys club, take your boys, make the rest of the teams AI and have your fun. God knows those AI teams would still win before Shel.
Don't argue with Shel. You will never win. Even though you are almost always right. It's the definition of futility.
For the love of god Nick, it's time for a gimmick change. Like you're the only person to ever look at and use WOBA and ISO. It must be tough to find a hat that fits with your giant fucking head.
Welcome to 2021 bitches.

My answer was I don't know. Are you stating my answer was I don't know but at the same time that I'm saying that it wasn't possible?

I also gave you my opinion and then you replied asked for my honest opinion, essentially telling me I was lying and giving you a dishonest opinion, so there's that.

If Conception suddenly has a down yr next season and begins to regress, am I a cheater? Oh wait...im not the commish....
Ill be commish for a few months

And to throw AJ in there for winning 3 titles is kinda unfair.

I’m not comfortable saying he did cheat to get the head start like you seem to be but you at least acknowledge all the factors included and you speak in probabilities rather then absolutes and you don’t hold grudges over hypotheticals, bravo

Fwiw, it’s probably really easy to trade a lot if you’re editing away any downside to trades
Prospect you dealt for not developing fast enough? Snap. Fixed
Prospect you dealt for take a talent hit? Snap. Fixed
Vet dying off and need to deal him still to not waste the asset? Snap. Fixed

None of those snaps would really ever be detectable fwiw. As someone said earlier, I think niddler, these edits aren’t tracked in game.

At this same point last season we were halfway thru page 6. Good job fellas on getting the page count up. We will never go back to the 80-100 page threads but we might get to 50 at this pace

As gob mentioned, the types of trades he made didn’t need “fixing”. They were raping idiot owners.
I was in his division this entire time and Corey and i don’t even get along historically yet I’m less comfortable speaking in absolutes about what happened than you are.

Re: 2078 Season Thread... 2 Rings for the Wings
i go get high on gorilla glue (whether weed or literal glue ill let you decide) and come back to this?

I just want to point out that I think we're now up to 3 people today, none being me, referred to other owners as idiots, and I'm the only one who got called our for calling owners idiots, and got called out by 1 of the aforementioned 3 lol.
Re: 2078 Season Thread... 2 Rings for the Wings
Finally got through all that. Bravo gentleman. You successfully took a few hours out of my day, just to read it all, and make a few stupid comments. Anyways, Dully noted. Do NOT bring up ANY HOF'ers, ever. Lesson learned!

I don't think he'll have the same effect as Jorge Marino. Mainly because the newer guys have no clue who he is/was compared to Marino
