NDL: S32W3 - Marshall (0) at San José State (16)

Spartans improve to 2-1

SJSU defeats Marshall

Article By: taruncheel

This was a very defensive game without much offense by either team. The Thundering Herd was able to gain 164 yards throughout the day and the Spartans 172. The Thundering Herd had 5 turnovers compared to 1 by the Spartans. San Jose State relied on their FG kicker for 3 short field goals as they had trouble finding the end zone. The one touchdown was a 5 yd reception by Hurry from Brown. Chalk IV carried the ball 26 times for 87 yards, but did not find the end zone. "Our defense came to play today and we were able to shut down the Thundering Herd offensive attack. The 4 INT's and the 1 fumble really made a difference. Our offense was slow and could not find a way to score touchdowns. Thank goodness we have a solid kicker in Halvorsen. We definitely have work to do, but we will enjoy this victory," commented Coach Taruncheel.
