Quarterback Jake Retzlaff led the charge for the Cougars, completing 19 of 23 passes for 333 yards and 4 touchdowns, posting an eye-popping 252.9 passer rating. BYU's big-play ability was on full display, highlighted by a 64-yard touchdown from Parker Kingston and a 71-yard catch-and-run by Darius Lassiter.

The Cougars also racked up 266 rushing yards, with Sam Dawe and Miles Davis each rushing for 117 yards and a touchdown. The offense averaged 7.6 yards per carry and 17.5 yards per pass attempt, overwhelming Army’s defense.

BYU’s defense smothered Army’s limited passing game, allowing just 10 yards through the air. The Cougars recorded 12 tackles for loss, including 1 sack, and held Army to 2-of-4 passing overall.

While Army managed 174 rushing yards — including a 96-yard, 1-touchdown effort from Kanye Udoh — they couldn’t keep pace offensively. Turnovers and three-and-outs gave BYU favorable field position throughout.

BYU WR Parker Kingston: 64-yard TD reception, 103 all-purpose yards

Army LB Kalib Fortner: 13 tackles, 1 sack

Special Teams & Efficiency:
BYU kicker Will Ferrin was perfect, hitting a 45-yard field goal and all 5 PATs. Punter Sam Vander Haar helped flip the field with a 53-yard average. Army’s special teams showed brief sparks but couldn't shift momentum.

Looking Ahead:
BYU starts the season 1–0 and looks like an early contender with a well-rounded performance. Army will need to regroup offensively as they prepare for Week 2, hoping to build off a strong ground game.
