Miami would travel back to the state of Ohio for this Week 3 showdown against Toledo. The Hurricanes would get the ball first and would put together a nice 8 play drive that would be capped with a 23 yard pass from Cam Ward to Elijah Arroyo to take an early 7-0 lead. The Canes defense, specifically Mishael Powell, would make huge plays on Toledo's first two possessions. On the first one, Powell would intercept the pass and run it back 36 yards for the score. On the next possession, Powell would intercept the pass and this time run it back 87 yards for the score and a 20-0 lead after the first quarter. Toledo would answer back in the 2nd. They would put two very nice drives together that would end in a 2 yard touchdown run and a 16 yard pass to cut Miami's lead to 20-14 at the half. "We played so well in the first quarter," said Coach Dealer, "but that second quarter the offense really didn't get going and they were making some great play calls. We knew we had to make a play to start the 3rd quarter with them getting the ball first or we would have a battle the rest of the game."

The Canes would get that play from the other safety this time, Jaden Harris. Harris would intercept the pass and take it back 53 yards for the score and a 26-14 lead after a failed 2pt conversion. The Canes defense would again make a huge play, this time DT - Marley Cook would get an interception after the quarterback was hit while trying to throw. The Hurricanes offense would score on the very next play a 29 yard TD from Chris Johnson Jr. CJJ would get another touchdown on the very next possession, this time returning the punt 87 yards for the score and a 40-14 lead at the end of the 3rd quartet. Miami would tack on a field goal in the 4th to make it 43-14. Cook would also get his 2nd interception of the day to seal the game. "We got a lot of help from our defense and special teams in this game," said Dealer, "scoring 3 times with our defense and one touchdown from our return game, was huge."

Miami will open up ACC Conference play the following two weeks with games against Virginia Tech and Cal.
