Miami would look to rebound from their Week 1 loss to the Florida Gators. They would travel to Bowling Green, OH to take on the Falcons. The Hurricanes would get off to a quick start after stopping Bowling Green on their opening possession. Miami would go 7 plays and cap the drive on a 7 yard TD pass from Cam Ward to Elijah Arroyo for an early 7-0 advantage. Miami's defense would force an interception and be right back on the field. This time the Hurricanes would only need 5 plays to find the endzone as Ward would hit Damien Martinez for a 13 yard score. Miami's defense would come to play in this game as they would this time force the Falcons to punt and take possession inside their own 10 yard line. Miami would face a 3rd and 2 from their on 13 yard line. Ward would see the coverage and tell Arroyo to go deep. Ward would hit him in stride as Arroyo would do the rest to finish an 87 yard scoring play and a 21-0 halftime lead. "We played well in that first half," said Coach Dealer, "we missed a couple opportunities late in that second quarter that really could have put the game away, but missed those chances."
Miami and Bowling Green would play a pretty uneventful rest of the game. The Canes defense would come up with a goal line stand to keep the Falcons at 0 points. Andres Borregales would tack on a 22 and 20 yard field goal for the Canes in the 4th quarter to push the final score to 27-0.
In Week 3 and 4 the Canes will travel back to Ohio to take on Toledo but will welcome the San Diego Aztecs to Coral Gables in the following week.
