Hankerson the difference in the victory!

Beavers defeat Spartans

Article By: taruncheel

The Beavers came into San Jose State and left with a victory. They forced 5 turnovers and did not commit a single turnover. That was the biggest difference in the game. San Jose State looked really good stat wise, but the scoreboard is what matters. The Beavers took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and SJSU answered in the 2nd to make it 7-7. The Beavers then scored 17 straight points to take a commanding 24-7 lead into the half. SJSU tried to chip away and they were able to score 14 straight to make it 24-21. Lockhart caught both TD passes to close the gap. However, Hankerson went on a 64 yd run late to put the game at 31-21 and both teams traded FG to keep the margin of victory at 10. The Spartans struggled in the first half and Coach Taruncheel had to pull QB Brown and put in QB Eget. Eget was able to throw the ball well, but made some costly reads that turned into INT's and that shutdown any chance of a comeback. The Spartans are now sitting at 4-4 (3-1) with 4 games remaining. The team needs to step up and not fall during the end of the season.

Second Quarter

Beavers win but could have lost

Article By: doc1424

San Jose St should have won this game they beat Oregon St up and down the field but the scoreboard didnt show it. San Jose had 427 yds of offense compared to Oregon St 274 but the Beavers defense forced 5 turnovers and the offense with a short field capitalized on those turnovers to bring home the win.

In the 1st half Jam Griffin opened up the scoring on a jet sweep from 3 yards out. SJSU wasted no time and Jabari Bates squeezes in from a yard out after Oregon St shut down SJSU but ruined it on a running into the kicker. SJSU would get the ball back but Melvin Jordan IV would sack Jack Lockhart and scoop up the ball and run it in fro 27 yd TD. Oregon St defense would stand tall get the ball back and Hankerson would take it in from a yard out. Oregon St would force SJSU to turn it over and get a field goal to close out the half. Oregon St would go into the half winning 24-7.

Walker Eget would come out firing with a pair of TD passes of 84 and 64 yds to Justin Lockhart. Anthony Hankerson would take a jet sweep from Gevani McCoy and go untouched 64yds. The game would end on a pair of FGs from SJSU and Oregon St. Harlem Howard would seal the game with an interception.

SJSU played a great game and should have won we did what we needed to do to get the win but we arent doing enough to beat Wash St or Boise. We need to be better.
