UNT played a tale of two halves and what looked to be a blowout going into the half, with Memphis leading 21-3, turned into an eventful 1 score game, iced on an onsides recovery by Memphis with 20 seconds to go.
Shady and Memphis controlled the flow of the game from start to finish. Their ground attack only produced 131 yards, but it was effective, because it kept the UNT defense honest, and really opened up the passing game for Memphis, particularly to outside thirds, of the field. Drewwbacca made some half time adjustments to keep Memphis in check during the second half and found just enough offense to bring it back to 24-17. UNT settling for a first half field goal inside the Memphis 5 yard line was a tough pill to swallow. Although the run game was effective and Ragsdale made some reasonable chunk gains, it was only when the offense went up tempo and found a passing rhythm that Drewwbacca was able to find sustained success.
This was yet another learning experience for Drewwbacca, in understanding sometimes the offense can't be a perfect balance, and there will be days that Chandler Morris will just have to do it with his arm. That is now 3 losses on the season for UNT, in 1 possession games, and despite Drewwbacca winning most of the standard game metrics, such as T.O.P and Total yardage, he continues to find himself on the losing side of these close battles.
There seems to be a movement swelling that will most likely push Drewwbacca to exit the Denton area and seek greener pastures at a less green school. The remainder of this season will be an effort to salvage whatever pride may be left and to discover whatever offensive moxy may be locked away in Drewwbacca's mind.
