NDL: S32W8 - San José State (10) at Wyoming (31)

Full steam ahead

Wyoming wins 31-10

Article By: taruncheel

San Jose State started the game well, but it went downhill after the half. The first possession looked really good for the Spartans and they were able to move the ball down the field for the TD. The defense held and the Spartans were able to tack on a FG to go up 10-0. Wyoming scored a TD with about 1 minute left in the half and that is when the momentum shifted. SJSU could not complete a pass or find.a lane. The passes that were complete were thrown to the other team and then a long 66 yd fumble return really sealed the deal for the Cowboys.

Wyoming Trips Up Spartans

Article By: Dakshdar

Wyoming didn't need flashy offense or overwhelming stats to notch a 31-10 win over San Jose State on Saturday — just a little bit of luck and a whole lot of turnovers.

The Cowboys took full advantage of four Spartan turnovers, turning them into 17 points in a game that often felt closer than the final score indicated. Two takeaways were returned for touchdowns including Cowboy DT Caleb Robinson rumbling 66 yards on a fumble return for a TD.

“We made plays when we had to, and the turnovers made a huge difference,” Wyoming’s head coach said. “You take what the game gives you.”

Wyoming’s offense was efficient, if unspectacular, managing under 300 total yards but staying mistake-free. Short fields set up by turnovers allowed the Cowboys to control the game without taking many risks.

San Jose State moved the ball well at times and looked very strong up 10-0 in the first half. But the second half was another story as turnovers and a big missed FG really killed any momentum the Spartans had.

With the win, Wyoming improves to 6-2 and becomes bowl eligible. It wasn’t dominant football, but opportunistic defense — and a bit of good fortune — proved more than enough.
