The game stared rough for Coach Vic as Western Kentucky kept driving and driving down the field as the Bearkats only had 4 mins of time of possession in the first half. After a td to make it 7-0 WKU Hunter Watson threw a interception and WKU turned that into a another TD, after a 3 and out the Hilltoppers scored again to make it 21-0 with a few minutes left in the half another 3 and out happens and then that’s when the game changed.
With about 2:30 left TJ Finley threw a interception that was returned for a TD then on the insuring possession he threw another interception, the Bearkats drove down and got another touchdown with 11 seconds left in the half to make it 21-14
In the third quarter no points were scored and that only was because the Bearkats were stopped on 4th and goal at the 1. Moving into the fourth and 3 minute drive by Sam Houston ties the score at 21. WKU makes an effort to drive but gets stopped on 3rd and 4 and tried a 55 yard fg which was good with about 1:07 left in the fourth. That was just enough time as Watson drove the Bearkats down with the poise of a Senior and threw it to John gentry with 8 seconds to go. The Bearkats stop the Hail Mary attempt and end the game.
Coach Vic said after the game “No easy wins when it comes to conference play we have to get them how we can” he also said “That’s a good team and a good coach they executed thier game plan and kept the ball away from our offense but we were able to still push thru and find a way to win.”
