Panthers Humbled

Article By: CeeGee

Coming off a euphoric Beefy Cup upset over Texas A&M, Coach CeeGee’s Georgia State Panthers (2-2, 2-1 Sun Belt) crashed back to earth in a humiliating 42-7 loss to the Old Dominion Monarchs (4-0, 2-0 Sun Belt) in Week 7 of NDL Block 3.

The Monarchs, led by Coach PirateFlag_23, dominated from the opening whistle, exposing Georgia State’s vulnerabilities in a one-sided thrashing.

Old Dominion’s Devin Roche set the tone early, bulldozing for 7- and 9-yard touchdown runs in the first quarter to put the Panthers in a 14-0 hole.

Georgia State’s lone bright spot came in the second quarter when Christian Veilleux hit Austin McGee for a 29-yard TD, cutting the deficit to 14-7. But the wheels fell off late in the half, as ODU’s Will Jones returned interceptions 28 and 68 yards for touchdowns just 56 seconds apart, ballooning the lead to 28-7.

The third quarter was no kinder. Roche ripped off a 38-yard TD run, and Jones struck again with a 73-yard pick-six, pushing the score to an insurmountable 42-7.

Georgia State’s offense, which managed 328 total yards, was crippled by eight interceptions from Veilleux (15/29, 235 yards, 1 TD), with Jones snagging four. “I got outcoached and outplayed,” Coach CeeGee admitted. “Anton read my tendencies like a book and made me pay.”

Roche was unstoppable, rushing for 155 yards and three TDs on 16 carries, while ODU’s 202 rushing yards overwhelmed Georgia State’s defense.

The Panthers’ run game, led by Freddie Brock’s 94 yards on 13 carries, showed flashes but couldn’t sustain drives. McGee (4 catches, 105 yards, 1 TD) was a highlight, but two dropped passes and the turnovers stifled any comeback hopes.

Coach Anton’s post-game insight revealed his strategy: “I noticed most of your throws were inside breaking routes, so I sat underneath all game. Just some nice jumps and good reads.”

He praised CeeGee’s potential, adding, “You’re gonna win a lot in here. Your concepts are good.” Despite the loss, CeeGee appreciated the sportsmanship, noting Anton’s five-star rating for scheduling.

“We got exposed tonight,” Coach CeeGee said. “Eight picks is unacceptable, and we didn’t answer their physicality. Credit to ODU—they’re legit. We’ll learn from this and come back stronger.”

With Block 3 still open, the Panthers, now third in the Sun Belt East, must regroup quickly to keep their conference title hopes alive.

The NDL road doesn’t get easier, but Georgia State’s resolve will be tested.

Jones II 3 Def TD Game Keys Victory

Article By: PirateFlag_23

After getting run and passed on at will by Texas St, and seeing CeeGee get a big win at Kyle Field Monday night, it was time to figure some stuff out on defense. We were able to get a few reads on what Georgia St liked to run on film in the passing attack, and it worked out nicely as speedy Safety Will Jones II had 4 interceptions, and 3 of them returned for touchdowns.

Roche picked up another 3 touchdowns in the win, but massively overshadowed by a record breaking day defensively, and his POTG streak ends at 3.
