The Canes would welcome the California Bears to Coral Gables in this week 6 showdown. The Canes would look to make it a long trip back home for Cal. Miami's defense would shut down the Bears on their opening possession. Miami would get off to a very nice offensive start, the offense would put together an 8 play 80 yard drive that would be finished on a 6 yard touchdown run by Chris Johnson Jr to go up 7-0. The Canes defense would get their first turnover of the game on the next Cal drive. Jadais Richard would get the interception giving the ball pack to the Miami offense. Miami would just need 5 plays this time as Damien Martinez would run it in from 13 yards out to start the 2nd quarter and jump out to a 14-0 advantage. Cal would answer back though, they would hit a nice slant and take it 70 yards for the touchdown and the Miami lead would be cut to 14-7. Miami would put together another nice drive, this time on 3rd and 5 from inside the 15 yard line, Cam Ward would hit Joshia Trader for a 14 yard touchdown to push the lead back up to 14 at 21-7. Cal would be the next one to score with just under :30 before halftime on a 1 yard Jaydn Ott TD run to make it 21-14. Miami would look to answer and they would hit a big play. Ward would find Trader again, this time they would connect for 71 yards and their 2nd TD of the day to take a 28-14 lead into the half. "That was a huge play by Cam and Joshia," said Coach Dealer, "for us to go back up by 14 at the half and to get the ball first, we were feeling pretty confident about our position."

That confidence would quickly be snatched away. Cal would come out and play some great defense forcing the Canes into their first 3 and out of the game. Their offense would score rather quickly and the Miami lead would be cut to 28-21. Ward and the Hurricanes offense wouldn't need much time to answer back, Ward would connect with Martinez on a swing pass and Martinez would do the rest running 20 yards for the score and pushing the lead to 35-21. Miami's defense would start to dominate after this point. The Canes would go on a 24-0 run that would see Ward finding Xavier Restrepo for a 54 yard touchdown. He would also find Elijah Arroyo for a 12 yard score.

"That 2nd half started off a little shaky," said Dealer, "we hit a groove though after that and our defense really was able to shut them down. Ward was hot and when he gets in a groove like that he can make some really great reads/throws when needed."
