Tulsa halts UNT win "streak" at
Article By: The yardage summary would tell you that Texasfan and Drewwbacca played a dead lock even matchup. The T.O.P might have you thinking that Drewwbacca dominated, ultimately, the scoreboard shows Tulsa and Texasfan on top.
Drewwbacca had two touchdown drives in excess of 5 minutes, and controlled the T.O.P by a margin of 18 minutes to 9. So why the loss? Well, despite 1 turnover on a nice INT by Jordan Brown who dropped into a middle read and snagged the ball, Drewwbacca couldn't stop Tulsa's offense. Not once...
After last weeks win against Ark St. in the post game presser, Drewwbacca spoke about how the defense had been coming along nicely and stepped up in a big way. And added that if the Mean Green were to take the ultimate next step, it would start with the defense. Unfortunately, last week seemed more of a mirage than anything to lean on....
Offensively, UNT was efficient, and Drewwbacca has found a game plan that really, works, and also, gives UNT the needed game clock control that they desperately seek as a measure to keep themselves in games. A porous defense requires a stout offense to keep them off the field. Drewwbacca is doing that well, but the defense couldn't stop a pig from rolling in shit...
Texasfan deserves credit for having a methodical game plan and picking the right plays at the right time, to keep their own drives moving.
The only other UNT highlight would be shouting out DT Sheffield on a 7 catch 100yd performance. 100 yard rushers are far more common in the Drewwbacca offense than 100 yard receivers, but Sheffield has been the steadying force of the WR room and deserves credit for he dynamic athleticism and YAC ability.
Drewwbacca now heads into the bye week and more importantly, leaves campus for the weekend to head to the NDL Convention 2025!
Rinse and Repeat...UNT first down!Mean Green Fall to Golden Hurricanes
Article By: How I (Texasfan, Tulsa’s Coach) Survived a 3-Hour Football Hostage Situation Against a Man Named Joe
TULSA, OK — Let me start by making one thing clear: I’ve coached against three guys named Joe in three weeks, and this latest Joe — Joe from North Texas — nearly broke me. I'm Texasfan, head coach of your Tulsa Golden Hurricane, and what I witnessed Saturday wasn’t football. It was clock-hogging warfare in shoulder pads.
Joe rolled into town like a man on a mission... a very slow mission. UNT held the ball for 18 minutes. In a 24-minute game. That’s not possession — that’s a time-share. My defense aged a decade out there while UNT methodically moved like a 2003 Dell loading Windows XP.
First quarter, Joe opens with a 14-play drive, ending in a 20-yard field goal. And just like that, 6:30 minutes of football were eaten like a sad tailgate hot dog. We finally got the ball and said, “No thanks,” scoring in the second quarter with a beautiful 4-yard run. But Joe — oh, Joe — fires back with another SIX-minute drive. Morris in for a 2-yard TD. I could hear my defense’s knees creaking.
And because Joe doesn’t believe in mercy or letting other teams feel happiness, we threw a pick before halftime, which he casually turned into another field goal. We jogged into the locker room down 13-7 and emotionally drained like we’d just watched The Notebook.
In the third, we punched back. Eleven plays later, Bill Jackson — hometown hero and apparent part-time bulldozer — rumbled in for an 8-yard score. We’re up! Joy! Momentum! Briefly.
UNT? Back to the grind. They sneak in a 38-yard field goal like they’re running a masterclass on patience. 16-14 UNT.
But I still had Bill Jackson. And Bill? Oh, he wasn't done. Ripped off a 16-yard TD to reclaim the lead. And just when it looked like Joe might UNT his way back into control, our defense made the stop — fourth and two, one yard short. My headset nearly flew into the stratosphere.
We iced it from there. Bill carried again, then Cam Benjamin caught a 56-yard moonshot. We set up for a 25-yard field goal, went up by 8, and watched UNT panic-pass into Hodges’ waiting arms. Ball game.
Final score: Tulsa 24, UNT 16.
Final thought from Coach Texasfan: I respect Joe. But if he shows up next season with another 15-play drive in the first quarter, I might “accidentally” leave the stadium keys at home.
