Coach Dealer came into this season 32 game with Florida really hoping to not go 0-4 against the Gators in the last 4 meetings. Miami would get punched in the mouth and then they would take another punch to the mouth in the first quarter as Florida would score on pass plays of 43 and 70 yards to open up the game. The Canes would look to answer back and would put together a really nice drive but on a 4th and 2 inside the 10 yard line Miami would have the pass broken up and the ball would go back to Florida. "We had Restrepo in the back of the endzone and Cam just never saw him," said Coach Dealer. Miami would finally be able to hold the Gators and get the ball back for their offense. Florida's defense would get an interception on the next drive and run it back 75 yards to go up 21-0. Things were not looking good for the Hurricanes. Miami would answer though they would go on a 10 play drive that would be punctuated with a Damien Martinez 2 yard TD reception from Cam Ward. Miami would get another opportunity as they would force an interception on the Gators next possesion. This time Martinez would run it in from 4 yards out to cut the lead at halftime to 21-14. "To have the lead cut 7 at the half was huge," said Dealer, "then getting the ball to start the second half was a great opportunity."
Miami would not be able to capitalize and the second half would turn out to be a little ugly. Miami would not be able to stop Florida and they would quickly be back down 21 points and end up losing the game 42-21
