The Wake Forest Demon Deacons went to College Park Maryland and were able to leave with a hard fought win 21-0 over the hometown Terrapins.
It was the Demon Deacons defense that would save the day today as they would tally 4 interceptions and 5 sacks. Jasheen Davis would continue his strong campaign stepping up when needed getting 4.5 sacks on the day. Dylan Hazen was strong behind him at linebacker with 7 tackles 2 for loss and 2 interceptions. The defense would continue their bend but don’t break style all day. Meanwhile on offense, the Deacons were paced by Demond Claiborne’s 129 yards and a score mixed in with Hank Bachmeier going 7/8 for 113 yards and a touchdown.
Maryland came down the field on the first drive with a great mix of run and pass but was thwarted by Hazen’s first pick of the game. The Deacons however were in a giving mood after a great drive as Bachmeier gave it back after a strong drive. The Wake defense didn’t slump though and got the ball back for their offense and Bachmeier would find Micah Mays for a long scoring pass. Wake Forest would keep the defense going strong and able to keep Maryland off the scoreboard and the pressure off the Wake offense so they could keep mounting first downs and tacking on scores for the final of 21-0.
“Thankfully we were able to not let any mistakes we made grow and were able to force a couple from them. Either from pressure on the qb or from making feel like needed to make extra play cause out in front. Either way always good to get a win in a very tough place to play against a really good team with a very good long time vet! Props to coach tee Wade, he’s got that Maryland program headed in the right direction they are just a couple plays from being in spot for conference contention, which in that conference means playoff contention.” Dray
Gg Tee Wade best of luck rest of the season!
