Hawaii drops close one to UMASS

"Chee Pono Attack sucked", said head Coach Jeffdaddy. "UMASS simply outcoached and outplayed us."

Hawaii had its chances ln the 2nd half but threw a massive INT which UMASS capitlized on and scored. The Rainbow were led by RB Landon Sims who carried it over 20 times for over 100 yards. The passing game was awful for Chee Pono today as they couldn't get anything going.

In a closely contested matchup, UMass managed to edge out Hawaii with a final score of 24-17. The game showcased a mix of strong defensive plays and strategic offensive drives from both teams.

The scoring opened in the first quarter with UMass kicker Jacob Lurie connecting on a 21-yard field goal, giving the Minutemen an early lead.

As the game progressed into the second quarter, Hawaii responded when quarterback Brayden Schager found Landon Sims for a 10-yard touchdown pass. This was followed by a successful extra point from Kansei Matsuzawa, putting Hawaii in front. UMass then took back control with a touchdown of their own, as Taisun Phommachahn dashed in for a 13-yard run, with Lurie converting the extra point to regain the lead. However, Hawaii was not done yet, as Matsuzawa added a 22-yard field goal to narrow the gap before halftime.

The third quarter saw UMass extend their lead once again, with Jalen John scoring on an 8-yard run, and Lurie adding another extra point to make it 17-10 in favor of the Minutemen.

Hawaii fought back in the fourth quarter with Sims scoring on a 14-yard run, evening the score at 17-17 after Matsuzawas kick. However, the Minutemen delivered a decisive blow when Derrion Craig intercepted a pass and returned it 31 yards for a touchdown, once again allowing Lurie to kick the extra point and seal the game at 24-17.

With this victory, UMass showcased their resilience and determination, capturing an important win against Hawaii.
