The Wake Forest Demon Deacons went to Tempe for a devilish matchup with the Arizona State Sun Devils and the Deacs came away with a hellish 28-21 hard fought victory.
Demond Claiborne would have a scary good day finishing with 269 yards on 19 carries and 2 tds to pace the offense. Hank Bachmeier would complement the running game with 4/6 passing for 115 and 2 more tds.
The Wake Forest defense would play fairly steady on defense and make the Devils put drives together, which they did for the most part, but Wake would do just enough to limit the ASU scoring.
“We had a long trip out west but I am pleased with how we focused and executed in all phases of the game. We got some explosive plays both running and throwing the ball, and most importantly zero turnovers. We responded when we needed to, to keep things in our favor. Props to Coach Priest. He had his team fundamentally sound but just had one or two plays go against them. They are a very good football team.”
