UConn lost their first game of the season to a tough Virginia Tech team. The Huskies started the game hot intercepting the Hokies qb on the first 3 possessions. UConn was only able to muster 6 points in off those turnovers after Fagnano overthrew a wide open tight end in the endzone.
UConn's D kept them alive tho and stuff the Hokies all half. UConn was marching up 6-3 with the ball at the 10 yard line ready to take a lead into the half when disaster struck and the Huskies QB threw a pick 6 that led the Hokies taking a 10-6 lead at the half.
UConn got the ball to start the second half but ultimately made another bad read which led to another pick 6 and at that point the momentum was too much. UConn would fumble the following drive and throw a pass off their o line mans head on the next drive.
After getting stuffed on a 4th and 1 at the goal line, Va Tech took a hb dive 100 yards to the house on the games only big offensive play. At that point the flood gates were open and there was no turning back.
Outside of that 100 yard run, the Huskies held Va Tech to less than 150 yards of offense but the Hokies defense was too much, specifically up front where the pressure impacted UConn qb's all game.
