In a thrilling finish, the UMass Minutemen edged out the UTSA Roadrunners 20-17 with a last-second field goal, earning a hard-fought victory on the road.

The game kicked off with the Roadrunners striking first. Kevorian Barnes opened the scoring with a 4-yard touchdown run, and the Chase Allen extra point gave UTSA an early 7-0 lead. The second quarter saw UTSA extend their lead when Denver Harris returned a fumble 21 yards for a touchdown, bringing the score to 14-0 after Allen's successful kick. UMass finally found their rhythm, as Jacob Lurie connected on a 31-yard field goal, making it 14-3 at halftime.

The third quarter proved to be a tense stalemate with no scores from either team. But the fourth quarter turned into a dramatic showdown. UMass began to rally, with Taisun Phommachanh connecting with Sterling Gaban for an 8-yard touchdown pass, though their attempt for a two-point conversion fell short.

The momentum shifted further when UMass's Derrion Craig made a pivotal play, returning an interception 23 yards for a touchdown. The Minutemen successfully completed the two-point conversion, putting them ahead 17-14. However, UTSA wasn’t ready to back down. Chase Allen kicked a 31-yard field goal to tie the game at 17-17.

With time running out, UMass forced a turnover that culminated in success as Jacob Lurie booted a 36-yard field goal as time expired, sealing the victory for the Minutemen at 20-17.

The game featured a defensive battle, with UMass managing 233 total yards to UTSA's 262. UMass's offense, led by Phommachanh's passing, converted crucial plays in the fourth quarter, while their defense capitalized on turnovers, forcing four from the Roadrunners. UMass's win marks a significant achievement as they showcased resilience and determination to snatch a victory at the final moment.

The game turned on a late Pick-6 by UMass, which gave them a narrow lead. Undeterred, UTSA orchestrated a methodical drive, culminating in a field goal to tie the game at 17 apiece. With mere seconds left, UTSA's defense held strong, forcing a punt and setting up one last shot at a victory.

However, in an attempt to get into field goal range on a risky final play, UTSA's quarterback threw an interception. UMass capitalized on the turnover, driving into position for a game-winning field goal as time expired, stunning the Roadrunners and sending Minutemen fans into jubilation.
