Louisville wins The Keg of Nails

Article By: Mjkemp15

In a game that was bittersweet for coach Mjkemp as he played his old team the Cincinnati Bearcats after he left them following their 45-21 loss to Baylor in the first round of the CFP in season 30 but minus the homecoming coach mjkemp wanted to show why he was a premier coach in college football. With a whole new game plan and a new and improved defense, the Louisville Cardinals looked to get their season to a hot start. That is what they were able to do against the Bearcats with a great performance by Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough throwing 19/26 298 yards and 6 touchdowns with 3 of those touchdowns going to Tight end Mark Redman who accumulated 86 yards with 6 receptions. He told the coach before the season that his goal was to win the Natty but also win the John Makey Award and if he keeps this he will have it in his down in no time. Cincy did not waiver at all putting up 29 points behind an aerial assault from coach Kemp's former QB Brendan Sorsby they were able to get points up but only stopped the cardinal offense twice which was not enough to stop Louisville. After the game, Coach Kemp met up with his former QB to exchange heartfelt words cause they had been through a lot last season. In the press conference QB Brenden Sorsby said that Coach Kemp was like a mentor as well as a coach, he said that he had helped with his mental following his 2-game suspension. The Cardinals feel good after this win knowing they have a bye week in week 2 then travel to Ilinois to play against a well-coached team in Northwestern.
