Aztecs’ class of the MWC

Article By: Ank

SDSU doubled up on the Falcons from the Air Force Academy late Monday evening in a 42-21 win at home. Air Force hung in along as they could with SDSU , but the duel headed monster from So. California proved to be to much. Coach Ank said we move the ball , we score , we are efficient on both ground and air.. but our defense just can’t stop a nice bleed this season. We have pieces, parts to the chain , just not fully committed on that side of the ball at this point in the season.

Aztecs continue strong play in the MWC

The San Diego State University (SDSU) football team put on an offensive clinic, defeating Air Force Academy 42-21 on Saturday. In a game where the offense stole the spotlight, the Aztecs racked up 485 total yards, outpacing Air Force's 340 yards, with a standout performance from their running backs and timely passing plays.

The key to SDSU's success was their powerful running game, spearheaded by the dynamic duo of running backs Kenan Christon and Marquez Cooper. Christon had a spectacular outing, rushing 10 times for 143 yards and a touchdown, including several explosive runs that helped set the tone early. Cooper complemented him beautifully, carrying the ball 19 times for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Their combination of speed and power kept Air Force’s defense on its heels, unable to contain the Aztecs’ ground attack.

Christon’s ability to break free for long gains, including a 65-yard sprint, was a game-changer, while Cooper’s physical style of running consistently moved the chains and kept the Falcons’ defense guessing.

As the game progressed, Air Force’s defense began to focus more heavily on stopping the Aztecs' powerful ground game. This opened up opportunities in the passing game, and SDSU quarterback Danny O'Neil took full advantage. O'Neil connected on several long passes, including a crucial 57-yard strike to wide receiver Ja'Shaun Poke, who hauled in the pass for a touchdown. The long completion came at a key moment, as the Falcons had to creep up to stop the run, allowing SDSU to strike quickly through the air.

O'Neil, while not required to throw excessively, was efficient when called upon, finishing the game with multiple touchdowns and key completions that kept Air Force on its heels.
