Iowa kicked off to start the game and after a few first downs were able to force a punt. Iowa came out throwing the ball early and often and it paid off with a TD to put Iowa up early. After a few stops by both teams Iowa was able to score again on a Johnson rush to make it 14-0 at the end of the 1st quarter.
The second half would see the Bruins have a very long time consuming drive that ended in a FG. Iowa answered with a quick TD drive and the teams headed to the locker room at 21-3.
UCLA would force a stop on Iowa's first possesion, but the kpy would be short lived as SS Xavier Nwankpa would pick off a pass and return it 50 yards for the score. Both teams were content to run the ball and the clock and the final score was 28-6.
Nwankpa finished the game with 2 INTs and a Forced Fumble. This gives him 8 INTs on the year, good for 2nd in the NDL, with 2 FF, 2 DTD's, and 63 tackles. Coach Wildes, "X-Man has been a difference maker from the first game of the season until now, he has really stepped his game up, and we look forward to more big plays as we wrap the season up."
Out of the 10 passes that Demarcus Davis threw 4 of them were intercepted including a pick six .
Let’s break this down so in fg range he threw 2 interceptions and he fumbled the ball if all three drives in up at worst being a fg that’s 15 points so if you have the pick six still and the other drive that naturally Iowa drove down the field and scored that 14 points that’s a score of 15-14 but should a would a could a dreams by the bruins.
Coach Vic said we had a phase of the football that did great (special teams a block fg and onside kick recovery) one side was tired (the defense) and the other side well they cost us the game today.”
