The Sam Houston Bearkats remain perfect on the season, improving to 12-0 with a convincing 24-7 win at home against Louisiana Tech. As usual, running back Jay Ducker was a key factor, leading the offense with a strong performance on the ground, while the defense continued its dominant play, stifling Louisiana Tech at every turn.
Despite the impressive win, Coach Bell remains focused on the bigger picture. "We have more work to do," he stated firmly in his post-game press conference. The Bearkats’ undefeated run has been overshadowed by their continued snubbing in the College Football Playoff (CFP) rankings, and Bell didn’t hesitate to address it once again. He specifically called out the CFP committee chairman and the Utah head coach for continuing to overlook his team, despite their flawless record.
"Look, it's frustrating," Bell admitted. "We're 12-0, and we're still not getting the respect we deserve. But at the end of the day, it is what it is. We can't control what others think. Our goal was always to win the Conference USA Championship, and that’s still the goal. Middle Tennessee State is the only thing standing in our way now."
With the conference title in sight, Bell's message was clear: the team will keep its eyes on the prize. "We’re not concerned with rankings or what anyone else says. We're focused on what we can control. We will prepare for Middle Tennessee just like we’ve prepared all season long. Next Saturday, I need every Bearkat to show up and cheer their school on. We need our fans, we need each other, and we need that championship!"
As the Bearkats look ahead to their showdown with Middle Tennessee State, the team remains as determined as ever. The rankings may not reflect their dominance, but Sam Houston knows what they’re capable of and they’re ready to prove it one last time on their quest for a Conference USA title.
