Jason Marshall Jr. comes with the forced fumble in overtime

Florida Defeats Kentucky, 20-17

Gainesville, Florida - The Florida Gators picked up just what might be their wildest win of the season tonight, defeating the Wildcats of Kentucky in overtime 20-17. This game was a back-and-forth battle between two teams desperate for a conference win. On offense the Gators were led by a nearly flawless performance from quarterback DJ Lagway as he finished the day 23/25 passing for 309 yards and 2 touchdowns. This game was deadlocked for most of the contest and the game went to overtime to finally decide the winner. In the first overtime period the Gators marched down the field and looked as though they were going to get the ball into the endzone on a Dj Lagway to Eugene Wilson III pass, but Wilson would get rocked trying to extend the ball into the end zone and could only watch in horror as the ball squirted out of bounds into the endzone, giving the Wildcats the chance to end the game with a field goal. The Wildcats, looking to get the ball a little bit closer for an easy field goal attempt opted to run the ball up the gut and it looked as though their decison was going to pay off, but thankfully for the Gator faithful Jason Marshall Jr. was able to chase running back Chip Trayanum down from behind and punch the ball out his arms and into the hands of fellow Gator defender Ja Keem Jackson forcing a second overtime period. In the second period Kentucky managed to get the ball all the way down to the Florida 1-yard line, but the Gators rose to the occasion and managed to force the Wildcats to attempt a short field goal. With "The Swamp" rocking Kentucky kicker Alex Raynor missed the field goal, allowing the Gators to kick a field goal of their own to walk off with the victory. "This was probably the wildest game I've ever been a part of," said coach McDonagh at the post-game press conference. "I honestly think neither team deserved to lose this one, but I'm happy we were the ones to walk away with the win." With the victory the Gators now head into a bye week to catch their breath before traveling to Athens, Georgia to take on their arch-rival the Georgia Bulldogs.
