A week 8 battle saw two top 25 offenses in all of NDL go head to head in a late night Sun Belt matchup. The two high powered offenses put up a combined 8 touchdowns in the first half as Southern Miss lead 35-20 going into the break. Turnovers were the name of the game as Arkansas State quarterback Jaylen Raynor threw 4 interceptions with two of those going to slot corner Braxton Myers. Halftime adjustments by the Golden Eagles shut down the 24th ranked offense in the second half as they were unable to put up points through the last two quarters. Southern Miss looks to keep the ball rolling as they head to Ohio where they will play a well balanced and talented Toledo squad as their last out of conference test.
