RENO, Nev. – After back-to-back disappointing losses, the Nevada Wolf Pack bounced back in emphatic fashion, dismantling Oregon State 41-7 at Mackay Stadium on Saturday night. Behind a dominant defensive performance and a relentless ground game, Nevada secured its most impressive win of the season.

Quarterback Brandon Lewis played an efficient and controlled game, going 12-of-15 for 147 yards and a touchdown. However, the real star of the offense was running back Patrick Garwo III, who once again eclipsed the 150-yard rushing mark while finding the end zone three times.

“This is the type of football we want to play,” head coach Grayson Hulett said. “We controlled the line of scrimmage, took care of the football, and our defense stepped up in a big way.”

Nevada’s defense completely stifled Oregon State, forcing six interceptions in a dominant showing. Safety Kitan Crawford led the unit with 11 tackles, while the defensive line combined for two sacks to keep the Beavers’ offense off balance all night.

“We were flying around and making plays,” Crawford said. “We wanted to set the tone early and show what this defense is capable of.”

Special teams also contributed, with kicker Matthew Killam going 2-for-2 on field goals to help extend Nevada’s lead.

The Wolf Pack set the tone early, jumping out to a 24-0 halftime lead behind Garwo’s two first-half touchdowns. The second half saw more of the same, as Nevada’s defense continued to capitalize on Oregon State’s mistakes, including a pick-six that put the game completely out of reach.

With the win, Nevada improves to 2-2 on the season and regains momentum heading into the heart of their schedule.

“We needed this one,” Hulett said. “Now it’s about building off this performance and keeping that same energy moving forward.”

The Wolf Pack will look to carry their momentum into next week as they prepare for another key matchup at home.
