In a disappointing home outing, Wyoming football was unable to overcome a series of costly mistakes, ultimately falling to San Diego State. The game’s turning points came when the Cowboys gave up five turnovers, three of which were returned for a touchdown by the visiting team.
Despite weathering the early errors, Wyoming managed to cut the lead to 7 in the early third quarter. Alas, it was not to be as two additional turnovers in the form of fumbles popped up including one returned for a touchdown. These critical errors proved too much for the Cowboys to overcome, as the Aztecs kept the lead through opportunistic plays that kept the home team on their back foot for much of the game.
While Wyoming showed resilience, the inability to protect the ball proved to be their undoing. The loss serves as a stark reminder of how turnovers can dramatically shift the outcome of a game, leaving the Cowboys with plenty to work on as they prepare for their next challenge.
