Starkville, Mississippi - The Florida Gators walked out of a hostile environment with a huge win today, defeating the Bulldogs of Mississippi State 34-10. On offense quarterback DJ Lagway looked shaky in front of the Starkvegas crowd, but thankfully for him running back Montrel Johnson Jr. decided to pick up the slack to the tune of 15 carries for 122 yards and 2 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the football the Gators were simply sensational, forcing 7 turnovers on the day (6 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery). Linebacker Shemar James turned in what could be a player of the week type of performance, totaling 9 tackles, 2 sacks and interception which he returned for a touchdown. "Our offense still needs some work for sure," said coach McDonagh at the post-game press conference. "But defensively we're firing on all cylinders. We just need to continue to get better each week and hopefully our offense will catch up to our defense." With the victory the Gators return to Gainesville for a bye week before taking to the road again to take on the Flames of Liberty in out of conference action.
