Jacob Zeno and company fought from behind, only to have a win fumble away in overtime. The First Team All-American Quarterback struggled to get going the entire first half to get anything going, and on top of that, caught the turnover bug, throwing two interceptions, while running back Lee Beebe Jr added to the chaos with a fumble of his own. It was so bad that at the end of the first half the Blazers were down 17-0, with less than 50 yards of total offense and only 14 passing yards from Jacob Zeno. Although the defense was consistently put in bad positions, they fought hard, although Warhawks quarterback General Booty ripped the ball consistently to open receivers through holes in the Blazers D. In the second half, Jacob Zeno and the Blazers offense came to life, although instead of passing, it was through the dominant run game of Lee Beebe Jr. The Blazers were able to take the lead, going up 21-20 with just under 5 minutes in the fourth quarter, following an interception by star safety Ray Thornton III. In overtime, the Blazers elected to receive the ball first. After going through his reads, Zeno decided to pull the ball down to run and get the first down. While attempting to slide, he got blown up and fumbled the ball to the other team. On the ensuing drive, the Warhawks scored a touchdown and ended the game.
After the game, coachjackb did not show up to his postgame interview. It is rumored directly after the game he jumped on a plane to interview for some possible positions in the power 4. This is obviously not the end anyone in the Blazers organization wanted, but it seemed to be a theme this season of being close, but not quite good enough. Let's all hope that next year will continue an upward trend towards being good enough.
