Coach JBM has earned his first win in his second career collegiate game. The Eastern Michigan Eagles hosted Vanderbilt this evening for its 2nd home game of the year. Vanderbilt week took a lot of game planning, as QB #8 Robinson poses a real threat in the run game for Vandy.
While Eastern Michigan gave up triple digit rushing yards for the 2nd game of JBM’s tenure, they held the passing game in check and found a way to hold the SEC Team to 20 points.
The Eagles ran a 2 QB system, which allowed Sophomore QB Salem to use his legs in the running game and add a rushing touchdown from the QB position.
“We handled the ball really nice on offense, we played 2 QBs tonight, and I thought both guys played to their strengths. Anytime you can finish a football game without turning the football over, good things are bound to happen. This is hopefully the first of many wins for me in the NDL, and we’re going to pop some welch’s grapefruit juice tonight. Shoutout to Vanderbilt; that’s a good football team over there. I’d like to end with a quote from my Uncle Ricky Bobby, “I can get used to this here winning thing”
Vandy traveled to Eastern Michigan in hopes to get in the win column, but left with a 34-20 defeat. Vandy's offense did better than last game, but their defense was non-existent as EMU scored on every possession, but the last one when they took a knee.
One bright note was Vandy's rushing game as they rushed 33 times for 320 yards led by halfback Sedrick Alexander (25-249 yards) and quarterback Nate Johnson (5-57 yards).
Coach Quest stated that next game they will be playing Woody Ball (3 yards and a cloud of dust)
