EL PASO, Texas - The momentum of a season-opening win died very quickly in Texas for the Rockets, as they managed just one first half score while falling behind 20-7 at the half.
The Rockets soared back in the third, scoring 21 points to close within three points. But the UTEP defense stayed strong, forcing a total of six turnovers to keep the visitors off the scoreboard in the final quarter.
An inability to run the ball hurt Toledo, with just 63 total yards on the ground. That put too much pressure on QB Tucker Gleason and he did not fare well in his first road test, going just 14-of-31 with 5 INTs to 1 TD.
