Arizona welcomed the Miners to Tucson and quickly felt the poise of a tough 4-1 squad. Despite taking a 7-0 lead after a Quali Conley TD, UTEP was quick to tie it at 7-7 in the 1st quarter. A largely uneventful 2nd quarter led to Arizona going into half up 10-7 after a nice redzone stand by the UTEP defense
The second half was off to a fast start as Noah Fifita found Jeremiah Patterson behind the defense for a 51 yard score. Once again, UTEP was quick to answer and pull back within 3. Luckily for the Arizona offense, they stayed in control and did not turn the ball over tonight. Quali Conley fell into the endzone to give the Wildcats a 24-14 lead late in the 3rd quarter
UTEP was forced to settle for 3 in the 4th quarter to cut it back to a one possession game. Fifita was able to get Arizona into the red zone again and Conley punched it in for a 31-17 lead. The Arizona defense would jump a HB screen for a pick six to make this one look more out of reach than it was. The Miners fought hard behind their solid offense, but late turnovers broke their back on the road. GG Knubb
