Gamecocks Demolish Liberty

South Carolina dominated Liberty 42-7 in a one-sided football matchup. The Gamecocks took control early, scoring on their opening drive and never looking back. Quarterback LaNorris Sellers led the offense, throwing for multiple touchdowns and spreading the ball around to a variety of receivers while throwing a perfect 12/12 game. South Carolina’s defense led by Kennard was equally impressive, shutting down Liberty’s high-powered offense and forcing multiple turnovers. Liberty struggled to get anything going, managing just one touchdown late in the game. With this victory, South Carolina demonstrated its strength on both sides of the ball, cruising to an easy win.

Gamecocks smoke the Flames

Location: Williams-Brice Stadium, Columbia, SC

In a thrilling matchup, the Liberty Flames faced off against the South Carolina Gamecocks in what proved to be an electrifying contest. Liberty looked to come into Columbia to pull off a massive upset.

First Half: all Gamecocks

The first half set the tone for the entire game, South Carolina started strong, with quarterback [Lanoris Sellers] connecting with his receivers for a series of impressive plays. The Gamecocks' offense showcased a balanced attack, mixing the run and pass effectively. After a standout first drive it was marked off with a 2-yd TD pass from Sellers to Brady Hunt, putting South Carolina on the board early.

Liberty looked to respond with determination. Quarterback [Kaidon Salter] and the Flame offense struggled out of the gate. Despite facing a tough defense, Liberty managed to move the ball, but the Gamecocks defense made it hard for them to score. South Carolina went on to dominate the first half and the Liberty offense had no answers. Kaidon Salter seemed to struggle and wasn't getting help from his o-line when he threw multiple interceptions and 1 leading to a pick 6 by DQ Smith for 75-yds.

As the second quarter unfolded, the Gamecocks capitalized on a crucial turnover, extending their lead with another touchdown by Raheim Sanders. However, Liberty's defense wasn't getting much help from their offense and seemed to be gassed early. Thats when Sellers took advantage of that connecting on 2 deep throws that lead to touchdowns.

Second Half Surge

The second half saw Liberty coming out with renewed energy. Their defense made key adjustments, limiting South Carolina's scoring opportunities. Midway through the fourth quarter, the Flames finally found the endzone with a 43-yd touchdown pass from Kaidon Salter to Reese Smith to put the Flames on the board. with the little fight that was left in Liberty, South Carolina closed the game out on a Sanders 17-yd rushing touchdown to secure a blowout victory over Liberty.

Final Score: South Carolina 42, Liberty 7

After the Flames early struggles in the season, they are looking to find some momentum when they jump into conference play against the Utep Miners next week.
