The Ole Miss defense put in quality work in this one. On the road in a hostel environment, with their offense giving them nothing, they held the Wolverines offense in check most of night. Even limiting the speedy Michigan offensive weapon Amorion Walker to 46 yards on 11 touches. But Walker got free on a late kick return moments after the Rebs offense had finally tied up the game. This turned the crowd up to 11, and made a 7 point lead look like 50 on the following possession.
Coach Penguin was visibly angry postgame, but it was all directed at himself. We were not prepared well enough, and I did not put Jaxson and our offense in the positions they needed to be to get this win. I knew that the DL we were going to face would be problem, but it is my job to have the answers, and I failed in that tonight.
The #20 Wolverines had a difficult time moving the ball against the #16 Rebels defense. Michigan's Offense was able to score on their opening possession that concluded with a 5 yard run by Amorion Walker out of the Wildcat formation. Ole Miss and Michigan traded field goals back and forth. By the end of the 3rd quarter Michigan led 13-6.
In the 4th quarter the Rebels Offense came alive and began to move the ball down the field leading to a Henry Parrish Jr rushing touch down to tie the game. On the ensuing kick off, the Rebels kick the ball half way into the end zone, in which Amorion Walker took the ball out, ran to the left and finds an open hole for a 104 yard kick return touchdown to give Michigan a 20-13 lead. The kick return took all momentum away from the Rebels, allowing Michigan's Defense and Fan's to come alive and make a late stop to seal the deal.
Great Game FSUPenguin, Good Luck the rest of the way and it was a pleasure talking to you after the game.
Michigan turns it's attention to Minnesota and #24 Washington.
