Aztecs Top Coastal

Article By: BigZZ916

In a strong performance, the San Diego State Aztecs triumphed over Coastal Carolina with a decisive score of 41-18, showcasing their offensive prowess and defensive tenacity. The victory not only boosts the Aztecs’ confidence but also sets the stage for an exciting matchup against Hawaii, the conference preseason favorites next block.

Leading the charge for the Aztecs was running back Marquez Cooper, who delivered a spectacular performance with 271 rushing yards on just 19 carries, finding the end zone twice. Cooper’s explosive runs were pivotal, as he consistently broke through the Coastal Carolina defense, putting pressure on their defensive schemes.

Adding to the offensive fireworks was wide receiver Ja'Shaun Poke, who had a standout game with 7 receptions for 165 yards and 2 touchdowns. Poke’s ability to stretch the field created opportunities for the Aztecs, allowing them to maintain a significant lead throughout the contest.

Defensive Dominance
While the Aztecs' offense shone, it was the defense that truly set the tone in the first three quarters. They stifled Coastal Carolina’s offense, limiting them to just 10 points during that stretch. The Aztecs' defensive unit showcased their skills with 2 interceptions and 4 crucial stops that kept the Chanticleers from gaining any momentum.

Safety Dalesean was a standout performer, leading the Aztecs’ defense with 8 tackles, 1 interception, and 1 pass deflection. His ability to read plays and disrupt Coastal Carolina's rhythm was instrumental in the Aztecs’ success, proving that the team is well-rounded on both sides of the ball.
