Alshon Jeanty was on his Grown Man game, but couldn't over come costly turnovers

Turnovers spoil BSU's Potential Upset

Article By: iRoccafella

Boise, ID - The Broncos, playing one of only 5 home games this season had the Michigan Bobby Bouchers come to town in what turned out to be a fairly competitive game.

Coach Roc knew he had to gameplan perfectly to stand a chance against the #9 Ranked Wolverines, and for 1 1/2 quarters, that worked. Alshon Jeanty was off to a hot start and broke two long runs to put the Broncos ahead 14-7. However, a costly fumble on a 3rd and short by TE Matt Lauter swung momentum in the Wolverines favor, leading to a 21 point 2nd quarter and 28-14 lead going in to the half. Jeanty racked up 200+ yards from scrimmage and 3 TDs to pace the Broncos.

Malachi Nelson again had the Broncos driving before the half only to squander the effort with his 5th INT of the young season. He would later throw another drive-killing pick to torpedo any attempts at a comeback. Despite the turnovers, the BSU D held firm in the 2nd half, giving up zero points. The hope is to build off this momentum and attempt to get more than one OOC win this season as this one is shaping up to be a repeat of last year, with a tough 4 game road trip coming up against Okie St, WSU & Illinois before opening conference play on the road against Utah St.

The Broncos won't be back home until Week 7 when they attempt a grudge match against their only conference loss last season to the Rainbow Warriors of Hawaii

When asked after the game what the team needs to do better Coach Roc cited missed tackles and a need to finish plays. 'Teubner had a ball thrown directly to him on one of those scoring drives, and I know that Orji fella is tough to bring down, but we have to get home or them farmboys on the back end don't stand a chance. Coach Phreakk coached a hell of a game and I don't look forward to attempting the Big House next should he remain in Michigan, but always up for a challenge'.

Next up is Ol' Swelly and the new looking Fighting Illini in Week 3 & a brief reprieve before the schedule kicks in to high gear.
