Huskies get W in the Desert

Article By: driccio21

UConn entered into Tempe to face a familiar face in coach Priest.

"We have a mutual respect for each other and he's always been someone we've admired from afar" said Riccio in the post game. "He goes about his business and has been a key member for our league for a long time."

This game, however, was not as close as the camaraderie between the 2. UConn was able to force 6 int's and limited their own turnovers until a late fumble allowed Arizona St to get on the board late.

UConn had 3 running backs get heavy workloads today and Nick Evers threw efficiently in his limited reps.

QB play was awful for ASU

Sun Devils Smacked Around

TEMPE, AZ – In one of the most disheartening losses in recent memory, Arizona State was dominated by UConn at home on Saturday, falling to the Huskies 34-7 in a game that was over by halftime. UConn, who scored all 34 of their points in the first half, took advantage of an uncharacteristically sloppy performance by the Sun Devils, particularly in the passing game. Arizona State's quarterbacks combined for a staggering six interceptions, derailing any hopes of a comeback and leaving the Sun Devils reeling.

"We went into the game knowing that we are going to have to play really well to compete with UConn as are very well coached. Turning the ball over 7 times is not going to help. I have the upmost respect for coach DRiccio as we have battled many times before, but I take the full blame for not even giving their team a game" said coach priest19.

UConn controlled the game and was up 31-0 at the half. ASU could not get anything going offensively and the turnovers killed most of their drives. The only bright spot was the Sun Devils did not get shutout. They got on the board by recovering a muffed option pitch and then with an end around Tyson took it in for the lone score for ASU. The game was far out of reach when he scored.

It has been a long season for ASU in a very tough conference. Asked about the coach's future the AD said, "no comment" and moved on. This does not bode well for coach priest19.
