In a weird game, the Baylor Bears went up 14-0 in the first quarter on strong offense and defense. Then State came back with two defensive turnovers for touchdowns to tie the game. It would not last, as Baylor scored 17 unanswered points to go into the half 31-14.
Coach Beercop shut the game plan down as Baylor added another touchdown in the third quarter and agreed with Coach Vegas to chew the clock.
Baylor just dominated us in the trenches today. Dequan threw five touchdowns and the big TE MIchael Trigg was unstoppable in the passing game. Any time they needed a big play he was there. Coach Beercop said after the game.
Great game as always Vegas and GL on the rest of your season.
In their home opener, the Baylor BEars and Coach Vegas took on the MSU Bulldogs and their Head Coach Beercop. The Bears jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead, but a poor decision led to a quick pick 6 for the Dawgs, and then on the very next play a "fumble" on a pitch taken to the house mid air for another defensive score tied the game up at 14. From there, Coach Vegas pulled his offense to the sideline and made it very clear it was time to clean it up. They proceeded to rattle off the next 24 points in the next 2 quarters while holding Mississippi State to less than 100 yards of total offense.
Following the game Coach Vegas spoke about some of the early offensive struggles stating, that "MSU played a nice front 7. THey caused al ot of issues in the run game which put us on edge a little bit calling plays. Once we got back to basics we were able to rely on our hard nosed defense and walk away victorious." He also mentioned the "noticeable growth in Coach Beercop's defensive scheme, and looks forward to continuing to see him grow offensively"
With the victory the #12 Bears now move their attention to their BIG XII opener at home vs #15 Colorado and Head Coach Canady later in the week
