In a completely lopsided game VT goes in to Nevada and dominates both sides of the ball to win 35-0 . Nevada played one of their worst games of the year against VT to remain winless. nevada couldnt run it or pass it against a VT defense that was just superior to the Nevada offense. Nevada is still looking to get their first win of season
In a show of defensive might and explosive rushing, the Virginia Tech Hokies blanked the Nevada Wolf Pack 35-0. Running back Bhayshul Tuten led the ground assault with 206 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just 11 carries, while cornerback Dorian Strong turned in a defensive performance for the ages, scoring two touchdowns off interceptions.
Virginia Tech owned the ground game from start to finish, tallying 251 rushing yards against Nevada’s 55. Tuten’s breakaway speed set the tone early, as he consistently shredded Nevada’s front seven for big gains, averaging over 18 yards per carry. Meanwhile, the Hokies’ air attack was efficient, if subdued, with only 69 passing yards on the day.
Dorian Strong was the defensive star, recording eight tackles, a tackle for loss, and two game-breaking interceptions that he returned for touchdowns. His ability to read Nevada’s quarterback and disrupt their offensive flow gave the Hokies an edge that Nevada never overcame. The Wolf Pack struggled to find a rhythm, with six costly turnovers—four of which came from interceptions. Virginia Tech’s defense also stifled Nevada’s third-down efforts, allowing just one conversion out of five attempts.
Virginia Tech was sharp on third downs themselves, converting 9 of 16 attempts to keep drives alive. They also capitalized in the red zone, scoring on their sole visit, while Nevada failed to make it inside the Hokies’ 20-yard line. Despite Nevada’s slight edge in time of possession, Virginia Tech’s big plays on both sides of the ball made any comeback impossible.
For the Hokies, this win was a testament to their physicality and discipline. Their defense looks stronger than ever, and with Tuten and Strong making highlight-reel plays, Virginia Tech appears poised to continue its upward trajectory with ACC conference play around the corner.
