Kentucky finally finds a game where they were able to get into the win column for the first time this season. Although it isn't an in-conference win, it is a huge confidence booster for the team. After talking to coach ElJefe(Jeff) he says that the team was looking to make changes coming into the week. The new QB was able to step in and lead the offense down the field multiple times at will. The running game was opened up more, as they were going for almost 250 yards on the ground combines with 4 touchdowns in the air. The turnover battle seemed to be the deciding factor in a tight hard-fought game like this one, where Kentucky was able to get 2 interceptions, one to seal the game, and one crucial one earlier in the game to stop Cincinnati. Only one sack this game allows Kentucky to look at the stat sheet and see something to make sure to improve for their next game. All players in this one deserve all the rest they will receive this week and the "Special Treatment" from all people on campus. They hope to ride this momentum for the rest of the season.
Good luck to MKX Groovy through the rest of the season, and GO WILDCATS!
After a close loss the 0-2 wildcats coach Mjkemp had some words for his team. Reporters from inside the locker room after the game heard coach Mjkemp say this loss was "disappointing" and that they players lacked effort in both sides of the ball and it was caused by the lack of focus in practice. Star player and running back Corey Kiner said that "We took them likely even though they were 0-2 we should have been more serious and focused through the wee." Despite the loss Cincinnati would be 2-1 overall and still a long road ahead of them in the season. During the games there were many bright spots throughout the offense with Quarterback Brendan Sorsby going 27/40 with 402 passing yards and 3 touchdowns along with 2 interceptions one coming on a hail marry at the end of the game. Coach Mjkemp said that many players stepped up against the SEC opponent. Jr wide receiver Aaron Turner who had 6 reception and 194 yards including a 75 yard touchdown in the beginning of the game. This game was very close throughout and with neither team giving an inch but in the end Kentucky would win off a 49 yard game winning field goal from Kicker Alex Raynor. Post game a local Sports media major from the University of Cincinnati Interviewed coach Mjkemp and he had this to say about the team and the game "The season is far from over and this one game does not define who we are as a program but the defense has to get stops and force turnovers if we want to win games."I felt they controlled the line of scrimmage on the both sides and they made less mistakes that why they won and we did not. Best of luck to Kentucky the rest of the season .
