Coach VIc took on his new personal rival in coach petty they have a mutual but distained relationship and that carried onto the field today.
Unfortunately for coach Vic the running backs nor offensive line didn’t show up today as Utah held the Spartans to -7 (yes that’s a negative if you looking right) negative seven yards after the game Coach Vic was hot not only did he say this to the media “We f”%*&$n sucked today” he was heard talking loudly in the locker room.
Utah gain a astonishing 262 on the ground taking over by halftime and didn’t let up
This won’t be the last time these two play against each other in the NDL
San Jose, CA (AP) -
The Utah Utes delivered an impressive 42-14 victory over the San José State Spartans, powered by a dynamic offense and a suffocating defense. Utah's offense was unstoppable, racking up 397 total yards, with a staggering 264 of those coming from their dominant rushing attack. Micah Bernard was the standout, rushing for 186 yards on 17 carries, including two touchdowns, and a long run of 81 yards. Dijon Stanley added 78 yards on the ground, further bolstering the Utes’ offense.
Quarterback Cameron Rising was efficient through the air, completing 13 of 20 passes for 135 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Rising’s favorite target was tight end Brant Kuithe, who caught 6 passes for 55 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his ability to make key plays in the red zone. Despite San José State's defensive efforts, the Utes scored three touchdowns in the red zone and capitalized on nearly every scoring opportunity.
Defensively, Utah was relentless, holding the Spartans to just 299 total yards and limiting their rushing attack to only 7 yards. Linebacker Karene Reid led the Utes with 13 tackles and 3 tackles for loss, while Alaka'i Gilman and Lander Barton combined for 16 total tackles, with Gilman also recording a sack. The Utes' defense was opportunistic, picking off three passes, including one by Tao Johnson and another by Lander Barton. Additionally, the defensive front, led by Logan Fano and Junior Tafuna, recorded 4 sacks and kept constant pressure on San José State's quarterback.
Utah's defense dominated the trenches, and while their offense was equally efficient, particularly in the run game, it was the Utes' overall physicality and depth that proved too much for San José State. The Spartans, despite some flashes of offense, struggled with turnovers, committing 4 to Utah's 1, and failed to convert in the red zone. The Utes controlled the game with a balanced attack and a smothering defense, improving their record with a comprehensive 42-14 win.
