NDL: S30W3 - Bowling Green (21) at San Diego State (48)

BGSU 134 of 134 in FBS

Article By: Drewwbacca

In a day anyone would want to forget, Drewwbacca forgot to even show up.

This one was never in doubt from the opening drive. SDSU controlled the game from start to finish, piling up 450+ yds of offense and forcing 4 turnovers. The scoreboard reads more like 90-14 when you peel the curtains back and dissect the film, but the NDL way kept SDSU from BUFU'ing BGSU until the point of prolapse.

Terion Stewart again put up over 100 yards on the ground, but most of that came after the game was far out of reach. BGSU's O-Line is more than competent and if Drewwbacca would learn to control the clock and the number of possessions for the opponent, then he'll use the damn ground. Until that time, these beatings will continue and morale will not improve.

Aztecs Continue Strong Start

Article By: BigZZ916

In a thrilling NDL non-conference clash, the San Diego State Aztecs delivered an impressive performance against the Bowling Green Falcons, showcasing their offensive firepower and defensive prowess. The game was a rollercoaster of momentum shifts, highlighted by explosive plays and standout individual performances.

San Diego State wasted no time asserting their dominance, as quarterback Danny O'Neil connected with wide receiver Ja'Shaun Poke' for a spectacular 77-yard touchdown pass, putting the Aztecs up 7-0. The early momentum continued when SDSU's defense made a critical play; Kyle Moretti intercepted a Bowling Green pass on third down and returned it to the Falcons' 12-yard line. Capitalizing on this turnover, running back Kenan Christon powered into the end zone, extending the lead to 14-0.

Despite the early deficit, Bowling Green responded with determination. The Falcons orchestrated an impressive 11-play, 75-yard drive that culminated in a touchdown pass from Connor Bazelak to tight end Star Harold Fannin Jr. This drive brought the score to 14-7 and signaled Bowling Green's readiness to compete.

As the second quarter began, San Diego State quickly retaliated. Marquez Cooper showcased his explosive speed with a 40-yard touchdown run, pushing the Aztecs' lead to 21-7. The defense continued to shine as Tupu Alualu executed a crucial sack-strip fumble, further halting Bowling Green's momentum.

The Aztecs then kept the pressure on, with O'Neil finding Poke again for a 35-yard gain, followed by another strong run from Cooper, this time for 18 yards, making it 28-7. Just when it seemed the game was slipping away, Bowling Green made a crucial connection again—Fannin caught a deep pass from Bazelak for 55 yards, closing the gap to 28-14 with two minutes left in the half.

With Bowling Green set to receive the second-half kickoff, the game felt poised for a potential comeback. However, the Aztecs had other plans. In just six plays, they covered 78 yards, capped off by another Cooper touchdown, further extending their lead to 35-14.

The Aztecs' defense held strong once more, quickly stopping Bowling Green and allowing Cooper to dash 65 yards for yet another touchdown, bringing the score to 41-14 and effectively putting the game out of reach before halftime.

The Aztecs' performance was marked by several key players. Quarterback Danny O'Neil finished with 193 passing yards and one touchdown, while running back Marquez Cooper had a sensational game with 15 carries for 183 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, Chris Johnson made a significant impact, returning an interception for 62 yards for a touchdown, solidifying the Aztecs’ strong defensive showing.
