Messiah Burch 84 Return Caps Bulls Comeback

BUFFALO STUNS UNLV IN 4th

Article By: oldmanwobbles

In a game that showcased the unpredictable nature of college football, the Buffalo Bulls orchestrated a remarkable fourth-quarter comeback to defeat UNLV 25-21 on Sunday evening, powered by a game-changing punt return touchdown in the final minutes.
What appeared to be a devastating blow for Buffalo turned into the catalyst for an unforgettable finish. With 4:52 remaining in the fourth quarter, UNLV's Jalen Catalon seemed to deliver the knockout punch with a 34-yard interception return for a touchdown, putting the Rebels in command with a two-score lead.
The Bulls, who dominated time of possession with 18:26 compared to UNLV's 9:34, refused to go quietly. Running back Lamar Sperling immediately responded with an electrifying 37-yard touchdown run, followed by Jacqez Roger's crucial two-point conversion - Buffalo's only successful two-point attempt of the night - to trim the deficit to just three points. The Buffalo defense then forced a critical three-and-out, setting the stage for the game's defining moment.
Messiah Burch etched his name into Buffalo football lore, fielding the ensuing punt and weaving through would-be tacklers for an extraordinary 84-yard touchdown return with just 2:20 left on the clock, sending the Bulls' sideline into a frenzy as they took a 25-21 lead.
UNLV mounted one final charge, driving all the way to the Buffalo 12-yard line in the closing seconds. However, Bulls' middle linebacker Shaun Dulac sealed the victory with a clutch interception - one of two interceptions thrown by each team in an otherwise clean game with no fumbles or sacks recorded.
In a disciplined affair, neither team committed a penalty, but both teams struggled on third downs, with Buffalo converting just 3 of 9 attempts while UNLV managed only 1 of 6. The Bulls' success in the red zone proved crucial, converting two touchdown opportunities while maintaining possession for nearly twice as long as their opponents.
Despite being narrowly outgained in total offense (377-380 yards), Buffalo's resilience and big-play ability proved decisive. The Bulls' ground game was particularly effective, amassing 260 rushing yards, highlighted by Sperling's crucial late-game touchdown run.
The victory was a tale of two halves, with Buffalo scoring 15 points in a frantic fourth quarter after managing just 10 points through the first three periods. The Bulls improved their record while dealing UNLV a heartbreaking defeat in what will be remembered as one of the most dramatic finishes of the season.

Rebels Special Teams and Defense Proved Costly

UNLV Falls At Home Against Buffalo

Article By: Black Rain

Runnin Rebels continue to struggle, as they lose on three big plays by the Buffalo Bulls, especially a punt return for touchdown. Such a devastating loss, as the Runnin Rebels are showing their true colors, and cannot get anything going on offense, and the defense, which is usually the strong side of the team fell short of the option plays from Buffalo. Head Coach Black Rain had the lead, then lost it in the fourth quarter, and he had nothing to say to his team, as repeating what happened would not make a difference with his offense, defense, or special teams units for this game. All the Rebels can do is look to next week!
