Memphis improved to 2-1 (1-0) with a comeback win over Wake Forest this evening.
This game featured a matchup between the leagues oldest rivals in Coach MGR and Coach Wes.
Tons of back and forth action but lets fast forward to late in the 4th quarter. The Tigers elected to go for it on 4th and goal while up 31-28 but Wake's defense stood tall and came up with the stop. The Deacons then calmy marched 96 yards and scored the go ahead touchdown with 1:36 left on the clock. Memphis would then work its way downfield and faced a 3rd and short at Wakes 20 yard line. With only seconds left Seth Henigan would find Koby Drake on a perfectly thrown fade pass to give the Tigers the win .
Helluva game Wes, as expected.. Best of luck and we will see ya next season!
Wake and Memphis did battle this evening and what a battle it was. Memphis did an amazing job controlling the clock and Wake could not get off the field. Despite this, the Deacs took the lead with under 2 minutes left in the fourth but left too much time for Memphis. Memphis drove down the field and hit a beautiful pass at the corner of the end zone to get the win. Another great game in a rivalry over 20 years old! Gg Mike and I’ll see you next season for the rematch!
