The Washington Huskies fell to the Oregon Ducks 52-31 in their season 30 finale.
The game started off with it looking like a quick blowout. The Ducks marched down the field, scoring on a 6 yard TD run by RB Jordan James. The Husky offense stalled, punting the ball. The Ducks responded with another score, this time a 45 yard FG from K Atticus Sappington.
The Huskies were able to find some life on offense near the start of the second quarter. Will Rogers was able to find WR Jeremiah Hunter in the back of the endzone on a 22 yard TD. The Husky defense then got their first stop of the day, forcing the Ducks to punt. The Huskies were able to drive down the field off the back of solid runs from RB Jonah Coleman. Will Rogers was able to find TE Quentin Moore on a 11 yard TD, putting the huskies up 14-10. The Ducks responded in force, scoring on a 66 yard deep bomb to WR Evan Steward, who beat CB Thaddioux Dixon on the play. The Ducks got the ball back with 50 seconds before the half, and were able to capatlize on another kick score, putting them up 24-14 at half.
After the half, the huskies started with a long sustained drive, capped off by a 1 yard TD QB sneak by QB Will Rogers. The Husky defense once again got beat deep by even stewart, who scored on a 50 yard strike. The Huskies were able to put together another solid drive, but were forced to settle for a 26 yard FG.
The Ducks started off the 4th with a well designed read options that QB Dillon Gabriel took in for a TD untouched. The Huskies responded with a 74 yard TD pass to WR Giles Jackson, who was able to shake off former husky CB Jabbar Muhammed and outrun the rest of the defense. The Ducks weren't done, scoring another long bomb, this time to Traeshon Holden for 76 yards. The Huskies started to get desperate. Will Rogers threw an ill advised pass on another otherwise great day that led to a 82 yard pick six. The Huskies chose to run the clock out at that point.
Oregon outlasted the Washington Huskies with a big 4th quarter to secure a 10 win season and keep their chances alive to reach the CFP.
Washington played a smart game, controlling possession for 3 quarters, limiting turnovers and pouncing when Oregon would commit a turnover.
Oregon was up 10-0 early, but gave up a TD, threw an INT, then gave up another TD to find themselves trailing, all in the span of 2 minutes.
Oregon rallied to score a TD with under 2 to go in the half, then forced a Washington 3 and out, then engineered another quick scoring drive very late in the 2nd half to go to the locker room up 24-14.
In the 3rd quarter, Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel would throw another INT when trying to build on the lead, and Washington was down 1 score, 31-24 heading into the 4th.
At that point, Oregon really buckled down offensively. They were moving the ball well for the entire game, but the 2 INTs and an opportunistic Washington offense kept it close. But in the 4th, the Ducks offense moved the ball and avoided the turnover bug, and with a 45-31 lead late in the game, Oregon DB Tysheem Johnson snagged and INT and took it for a pick 6 to secure the 52-31 victory
