Deja vu

Article By: Lone

The West Virginia Mountaineers’ challenging season ended in heartbreak, as they fell to the Texas Tech Red Raiders 38-35 despite a thrilling 21-point fourth-quarter rally. The loss left the Mountaineers with a disappointing 1-11 record, capping off a season full of close calls and missed opportunities.

Red Raiders Save Couches in Morgantown

Texas Tech traveled to Morgantown, WV for a showdown with West Virginia and came back with a victory.

Big 12 Conference wins have been in short supply for the Red Raiders and with a bowl out of the question now the only thing left to play for was pride. Texas Tech got off a hot start and carried a 31-7 lead into half time but the conservative nature of the play calling combined with West Virginia making big plays almost cost them the game as the Mountaineers came storming back outscoring Tech 28-7 in the second half including an onside kick recovery.

With just a bit more time and with momentum on their side there is a good chance WVU would have pulled out the come from behind win but were unsuccessful. Tech was once again powered by star running back Tahj Boyd who rushed for a season high 27 times, 288 yards, and 3 touchdowns including a huge 75 yard run in the first half of the game. This win may not change the job security of Coach AUChase but showed the team had not given up completely.
