Article By: Smitty229

Iowa State took on Utah in a game that had a lot of meaning. The Cyclones needed a win to keep hopes for the playoffs. The offense was very sharp in the first half and got the game going the way Coach Smitty had hoped. When we runt he ball effective like that the playaction will open up like it did.

We asked Coach Smitty if he thought they did enough to get in the playoffs. He responded with i would hope we had 2 losses to the number 1 and number 2 team with wins over Iowa and Cincy. He also said that the two losses were by less that 7 points in each game and felt like they should have won both.

Now we just hope and pray!!!

Ames, IA (AP) - In a challenging game for the Utah Utes, quarterback Cameron Rising completed 16 of 33 passes for 294 yards, three touchdowns, and six interceptions, finishing with a passer rating of 117.0. Despite his efforts, the Utes’ offense struggled with turnovers, as Rising's six interceptions allowed Iowa State to control the game. The Utah rushing attack was led by Micah Bernard, who carried 17 times for 152 yards and one touchdown, averaging 8.9 yards per carry. Dijon Stanley added 38 yards on 11 carries, but overall, the Utes managed just 190 rushing yards.

Brant Kuithe contributed five catches for 68 yards and a touchdown. Bernard also added two catches for 32 yards and a touchdown. Despite totaling 294 yards through the air, Utah's offensive line held firm with no sacks allowed, but the team couldn’t overcome their turnover woes.

Defensively, Levani Damuni and Karene Reid were the Utes' top tacklers, each recording nine total tackles and four tackles for loss. Damuni also added a sack. Junior Tafuna and Tao Johnson were key contributors as well, totaling 6 tackles each, while Elijah Davis made a crucial interception, one of the team's only turnovers of the game. The Utah defense registered a total of 49 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and one sack, but was unable to stop Iowa State's explosive offense. The Utes' defense also struggled to create significant turnovers, which ultimately allowed the Cyclones to maintain control throughout the game.
