CINCINNATI , OHIO - AP

Tough played game between two teams on opposite ends of the Big XII. Without their starting QB and RB the Bearcats handled the Wildcats. a big fumble and the inability to convert on 3rd downs doom K-State in this one. The Bearcats on the other hand were able to convert at 75% rate on 3rd downs and didn't get forced to settle for FGs. Good game planning and execution by Cincinnati in this one.

Well played coach.

In a thrilling showdown on Saturday afternoon the Cincinnati Bearcats pulled off a surprise victory over the Kansas State Wildcats defeating them 31-19 in a game that showcased resilience, depth, and determination. The Bearcats not only solidified their status as they should get a case for the College Football Playoff (CFP) race but also demonstrated that their depth would shine even in the face of adversity. With starting quarterback Brendan Sorsyby and running back Corey Kiner sidelined due to a disciplinary issue having been caught at a frat party and arriving at the pregame meeting in a less-than-optimal state Cincinnati turned to the backup duo of Brady Dorgbosch and Evan Proyer. The decision could have undermined the team's performance, but instead, it sparked a new level of intensity and execution.
Dorgbosch stepped onto the field and showed poise and composure throughout the game. He completed 16of 24passes for 224 yards and tossed two touchdown throws. His leadership on the field was evident as he directed the offense with precision, responding to the pressure of being thrust into the spotlight. Dorgbosch’s ability to read the Kansas State defense allowed Cincinnati to create.balanced attack that kept the Wildcats guessing. Whether it was a perfectly placed deep ball or an efficient short-yardage completion, Dorgbosch proved he was more than capable of leading the team to victory.
Meanwhile, running back Evan Proyer delivered a stellar performance, carrying the rock 17 times for 143 yards and a touchdown. Proyer's physical running style and ability to break tackles were crucial in keeping the chains moving and disrupting Kansas State's defensive rhythm. He not only showcased his rushing ability but also contributed in the passing game, catching four passes for 53 yards, highlighting his versatility.Cincinnati’s defense played a remarkable game as well, effectively neutralizing Kansas State’s offensive threats. The front seven was relentless, applying pressure on the Wildcats quarterback and forcing two turnovers. Linebackers and defensive backs stepped up making key tackles and disrupting passes. The Bearcats secondary, in particular was impressive further ensuring that they would not allow Kansas State to establish any rhythm offensively.
As the game progressed, Cincinnati steadily built a lead, taking a commanding 31-12 advantage in the fourth quarter before the Wildcats managed to score a late touchdown to finish the game at 31-19.
Cincinnati’s victory keeps their CFP hopes alive as they demonstrate that they can overcome challenges and that their depth can rise to the occasion. The performance from the backups, particularly Dorgbosch and Proyer, showed that this team is not just reliant on their stars, but that they have a sturdy foundation to support their playoff aspirations. The Bearcats' ability to adapt and thrive under pressure bodes well as they look ahead to the rest of their season when they take on the Horn frogs of TCU.
