California Football Dominates Syracuse 38-7

In a surprising and dominating performance, the California Golden Bears crushed the Syracuse Orange 38-7, proving their superiority on the field while highlighting an unexpected behind-the-scenes story. The Golden Bears’ victory not only showcased their athletic prowess but also marked a pivotal moment in the career of Coach Mark Berokoff, who orchestrated a bold two-week break for his team ahead of this matchup, all while working to secure the future of Syracuse football.

A Bold Two-Week Break
In the lead-up to the game, Coach Mark Berokoff made a controversial decision to give his Syracuse team a two-week break from competition. This unconventional move was met with skepticism by some, but Berokoff had a clear purpose in mind. He gave his players the time to rest and recover physically, a crucial factor in maintaining peak performance throughout the season. But there was more to the decision than just recuperation—Berokoff took this rare opportunity to focus on the broader picture.

During the two-week hiatus, Berokoff worked behind the scenes to secure strategic partnerships that would shape the future of the Orange. He spent significant time meeting with executives from NDL Suits, a prominent name in sports apparel, and representatives from EA Sports, exploring potential collaborations to enhance the team’s visibility and technological advancement. These meetings, while happening away from the public eye, are expected to have a lasting impact on the program, strengthening its brand and improving resources for future seasons.

A Generous Gesture from Syracuse Boosters
While Coach Berokoff was hard at work securing deals for the future of Orange football, the Syracuse boosters made sure that the Orange were well taken care of during their two-week stay in Syracuse. The boosters, a group of passionate Syracuse supporters, went above and beyond to accommodate and feed the Orange team. From providing meals to ensuring that all logistical needs were met, they treated the Orange as if they were their own team. This display of generosity was a rare show of sportsmanship, signaling a deep respect for Coach Berokoff and his program.

The hospitality extended to Syracuses players and coaching staff was more than just a kind gesture—it was a public expression of Syracuse’s appreciation for Berokoff. The boosters recognized the unique qualities that Berokoff brings to the table as a coach, and their support went far beyond just ensuring the team was comfortable. It was a sign of the growing bond between the two programs and a reflection of Syracuse’s belief in Berokoff’s ability to lead.

The Game: California Takes Control
When the game finally kicked off, the Golden Bears were ready. The two-week break seemed to have worked wonders, as California took control from the opening whistle. The Bears’ offense was explosive, executing with precision, while their defense smothered Syracuse’s attempts to generate any offense. Quarterback play was stellar, the offensive line dominated, and the defense was impenetrable. Syracuse’s lone touchdown came late in the game when the outcome was already decided, as California’s 38-7 victory left little doubt as to who was the superior team on the field.

The win was a statement for California football—a demonstration that, despite the unorthodox preparation, the team was more than capable of overcoming any challenge. Coach Berokoff’s gamble was a failure, but NIKE applauded and will always back Coach Berokoff

Syracuse’s Unwavering Support for Coach Berokoff
In the wake of the game, Syracuse’s admiration for Coach Berokoff was made abundantly clear. The school’s boosters, having seen firsthand the professionalism and commitment that Berokoff instilled in his players, publicly declared their unwavering support for his continued leadership of the Syracuse football program. This kind of endorsement is rare in the competitive world of college athletics, where coaching changes often happen quickly. But Syracuse’s backing signals a deeper level of respect and a belief in Berokoff’s long-term vision for success.

The support was not just limited to the boosters; it extended to the wider Syracuse community, who saw firsthand how Berokoff handled the two-week preparation and the game itself with an unmatched level of dedication. In an era where coaching tenures can be short-lived, Syracuse’s backing sends a clear message: Coach Mark Berokoff is the coach they want—and will support—forever.

Looking Toward the Future
With the victory over Syracuse now in the books, Coach Berokoff and the Syracuse turn their attention to the future. The two-week break was a strategic move that paid immediate dividends, but it also set the stage for even greater success down the road. With potential new partnerships on the horizon, including those with NDL Suits and EA Sports, Orange football is poised for growth both on and off the field.

Great Job Jason!!! Stud as always. Enjoyed talking to you.

Teddye Buchannan was a monster, with 14 tackles, a pick, and a scoop-and-score.

Cal's Defense Provides Two TDs in Win

Article By: jasonuk

Cal got a pick-6 and scoop-and-score from their defense, while Jaydn Ott and Chandler Rogers each rushed for 100+ yards as the Bears defeated Syracuse 38-7 on Sunday.

Linebacker Teddye Buchannan had a career game, racking up 14 tackles—including three TFL—as well as intercepting a pass. But it was his seven-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown that was his most impactful play, staking the Bears to a 28-0 lead in the second quarter that more than sealed the victory as Cal moves to 7-2 on the year.

Matthew Littlejohn added to the scoreboard by returning an interception 71 yards on the previous possession, blowing open a game that saw the Bears score touchdowns on their first two possessions. The Bears got a three-and-out to start the game, and after a strong punt return they put together a six-play, 40-yard drive. It culminated with a one-yard run by Jaivian Thomas to put the Bears ahead early.

After another three-and-out, Cal scored again—but this time they needed just one play. Rogers kept the ball on a power read option, racing straight up the middle and getting a key block as he raced 81 yards for the score.

It was the last real offensive production of the half for the Bears, but they would get the ball back late in the half after Syracuse got into the endzone. Cal would use the remaining 33 seconds to quickly pick up 38 yards, and Ryan Coe would bang in a 52-yard field goal to end the half. Ott would tack on a 31-yard touchdown run midway through the third quarter to provide the final score, as the Bears ran the ball and punted the rest of the way.

With the victory, Cal ensures at least a .500 season in ACC play, and moves into a three-way tie for second in the conference. The Bears control their own destiny towards reaching the conference title game, but Coach JasonUK said first they need to focus on Wake Forest.

"They're a tough team; they're better than their record indicates and we have to be ready for that one," he said. He also praised Coach Berekoff. "It's hard to be coaching two teams at once, and I'm glad to hear he's crushing it on the hardwood. We had a terrific chat after the game and he's always got the utmost respect from me."
