ASU Very Lucky In Win

Article By: priest19

In a dramatic clash that left fans on the edge of their seats, Arizona State University emerged victorious over Kansas State in an overtime showdown, winning 22-21. The thrilling game, held at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, saw Arizona State capitalize on a late-game surge, with running back Skattebo scoring the decisive two-point conversion in overtime to seal the win.

It was a game of missed field goals for both team but the last one hurt Kansas State the most. With only 5 seconds left in the 4th quarter Kansas State lined up for what looked like the game winning field goal but pushed it to the right. This would be their second miss of the game. ASU would then get the ball and run the clock out to head to overtime tied at 14-14.

In overtime it got intense. ASU won the toss in overtime and elected to start on defense. Kansas State moved the ball inside the 10-yard line and made a bold decision to go for it on 4th down and punched it in for the touchdown. Those missed field goals played a role in that decision which ASU knew was going to be the case. The Sun Devils then took over and got the ball inside the 10 and faced a 4th down of their own. Sims dropped back to pass and found Tyson on an in route for the touchdown right before getting hit. ASU lined up for the extra point but then had second thoughts and called a timeout. The offense was sent back on the field to go for the win. RB Skattebo took the HB Draw up the middle and cashed in winning it for the Sun Devils.

"This was probably one of the best games I have been a part of in a long time. We thought about sending it to another overtime, but we did not want to take the chance of losing since we had a chance at the win in front of us" said coach priest19. The win gets ASU its first Big 12 win of the season.

TEMPE, ARIZONA - AP

The Sun Devils hung around and got the Wildcats in in OT. KSU seemed to have control early forcing 4 interceptions and was pounding the rock well but couldn't make much payoff other than an INT return TD. some frustration lead to calling a passing play which got ASU going scoring a tying TD. From there the teams rock fought into the second half when both were able to score on long drives just running the ball. The "kicker" to the game for the wildcats was their inability to convert inside the 5 missing 2 FGs from the hashes. The second a GW attempt. In OT losing the toss K-state felt sure AZST was going to get in the endzone and instead of opting for a 3rd try inside the 5 they went for it and hit a short out route for a TD. It's hard to go for 2 first so they kicked and trusted their D. They bent, broke, and gave up the score. And for third time in 2 seasons Coach bearass was facing a 2 point attempt to save a victory. This time the defense parted like the red sea and AZST walked in for an easy 2 and a well earned victory.

"Terrible special teams and untimely turnovers just killed us. I am sure their coach would be saying the same if the game swung the other way. We can't seem to get it together with 2 top 10 teams left on the schedule its gonna be a rough offseason."

Great Game Priest, hard to be patient when those turnovers are coming. You did great hanging in and got a good one, fun game, GL the rest of the way.
